Hartal in 3 more dists

Main opposition BNP has called a 36-hour hartal (shutdown) in Comilla from Saturday demanding cancellation of the January 5 polls and protesting the "confinement" of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.

Meanwhile, the district units of BNP will enforce a dawn-to-dusk hartal in Natore on Saturday and in Manikganj on Sunday, the day of parliamentary election, over the same issues, report our district correspondents.

Yesterday, the BNP-led 18-party opposition called a 48-hour hartal from tomorrow morning in Chittagong, Sylhet, Jhenidah and Bogra demanding the same.

COMILLA

Mustaq Ahmed, organising secretary of district BNP, informed the journalists that the unit will enforce a 36-hour hartal in Comilla from 6:00am Saturday.

MANIKGANJ

Tozammel Haque Toza, joint secretary of district BNP, announced the daylong hartal in Ghior, Shivalaya and Daulatpur upazilas under Manikganj constituency-1 for Sunday.

NATORE

District BNP called a dawn-to-dusk hartal for tomorrow protesting Khaleda's confinement and explosion of four crude bombs in front of her Gulshan residence in the capital yesterday, said Aminul Haque, general secretary of district BNP.
