Handcuffed Shibir man flees from Ctg police custody

On-duty cop closed

A Shibir activist fled from police custody several hours after he had been arrested in Chittagong city's Dhemsha area early yesterday.
Md Rubel, 26, managed to escape dodging the law enforcers around 11:00am  although he was handcuffed at Dhemsha Police Investigation Camp, said Khalid Hossain, officer-in-charge of Satkania Police Station.
Rubel is an accused in several cases filed over creating violence right before January 5 general polls in the area, he said.
For his alleged negligence of duty, the on-duty constable, Sirajul Islam, was closed, said Khalid, adding that a departmental enquiry would be conducted in this regard.
Efforts are going on to re-arrest Rubel, he said.
