Hamiduzzaman's sculpture exhibition ends at Galleri Kaya

Solo sculpture exhibition by renowned artist Professor Hamiduzzaman Khan concluded yesterday (November 11) at Galleri Kaya in Uttara. Muhammed Aziz Khan, Chairman, Summit Group of Companies inaugurated the exhibition on October 24. Eminent art critic, Professor Syed Manzoorul Islam graced the occasion while Hamiduzzaman Khan was present at the opening ceremony.

The exhibition, titled “Stones”, showcased a selection of 31 sculptures made from stones, two acrylics on canvas and 16 inks and washes on paper. One of the artist's acrylic works, titled “Running in circles”, represents cosmic beauty. He depicted several circles, semi-circles and three-quarter circles in a way that symbolise planets of the solar system. The artist expertly used orange, ultramarine, yellow, Prussian blue and burnt sienna to make an illusion of colours around the space where planets like Mars, Saturn, mercury and earth are on a constant orbit.
Sculptures displayed at the exhibition were made from white, green, pink, rose and black marble along with marble de carara, pink granite and a mixture of green and white marble. The stones evoked various geometric forms and shapes coupled with imagery of birds, pets, fish and human portraits. Exquisite colours, outstanding textures and a rare moment of light and shades are vibrantly noticeable in almost all the works. Noted art critic Moinuddin Khaled embellished the catalogue of the exhibition through an article titled “Prattle of the stone”. Art connoisseur and collector Inam Ahamed has translated it.

The exhibition was dedicated to Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin. AND Group sponsored the exhibition.
