Gulshan Tower catches fire

A fire broke out on the ground floor of a 12-storey building in Gulshan-2 of the capital city of Dhaka this evening.
Firemen brought the blaze under control with their half-an hour efforts.
According to fire service officials, the fire originated at a clothes store on the ground floor of Gulshan Tower around 6:00pm.
On information, at least 12 units of fire fighters from different adjoining areas rushed to the spot and doused the blaze around 6:35pm, the officials said.
Tanharul Islam, senior station officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters, told The Daily Star that panicked people of the building rushed to the top floor soon after the fire broke out.
He said they were bringing down the stranded people from the top of the building by using ladders.
The cause of fire and details about the extent of damage could not be known immediately.
