Graft charges govt conspiracy: BNP

Graft charges govt conspiracy: BNP

The graft charges, brought against BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and senior vice-president Tarique Rahman, were part of government’s conspiracy, said the party in its formal reaction.

The conspiracy is to harass both of them mentally and to malign the party chief’s political image, BNP Joint Secretary General Rizvi Ahmed today said at a press conference in the party’s Naya Paltan central office

The party will start legal and political battle against the cases, he threatened.

Rizvi, however, did not revealed any details on when and how the party will start “the battle”.

Meanwhile Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, student-wing of BNP, today staged a low-scale demonstration protesting the charge framing against Khaleda and Tarique.

Meanwhile Jatiyatabadi Sechchasebak Dal announced to stage demonstrations tomorrow across the country.

A Dhaka court yesterday framed charges against Khaleda, Tarique and seven others in two corruption cases.

Khaleda was indicted in both Zia Charitable Trust and Zia Orphanage Trust graft cases.

The trial will begin on April 21 with the deposition of the complainants.
