Govt's days are numbered: Fakhrul

Terming the government "illegal", key opposition party BNP said today that the government cannot continue for long.
A government which could not earn the support of people cannot remain in power for a long time, BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir told reporters after paying tribute to BNP founder late Ziaur Rahman at his grave at Chandrima Udyan in the capital.
A section of BNP leaders went to pay the homage to Zia after Khandaker Mahbub Hossain, an adviser to party chairperson Khaleda Zia, got release from jail on bail, reports Bangla daily Prothom Alo.
The ruling Awami League has aimed to launch one-party Baksal after eliminating the opposition, the party leader alleged.
Awami League does not believe in democracy, he claimed adding that it had formed Baksal in '75 and now it destroyed democracy by holding the January 5 national election.
There is no history that an autocratic government could stay in power for long and this "dictatorial" government will face ouster very soon, Fakhrul added.
The government will be compelled to hold an election under a non-party caretaker government, he said.
On a query, Fakhrul said his party's organising activity is an ongoing process.
