Alleging that pro-government people were killing leaders and activists of the BNP-led 19-party alliance, BNP Joint Secretary General Rizvi Ahmed today said "the persons responsible for such murders would have to face trial".

"The people in government would be made accountable for each and every wrong doing and killing of our activists," he said in a news briefing at BNP’s central office in the capital this afternoon.

Lambasting the government for not giving permission for holding tomorrow’s rally at Suhrawardy Udyan, the BNP spokesperson said the government is afraid of people. “That is why it is not allowing the opposition to hold any assembly.”

The government has been killing people in the name of crossfire using administration, joint forces and Awami League cadres as the people boycotted its farcical January 5 polls, he added.
