Govt had support for Latif: Fakhrul

BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today lambasted the government for allowing sacked minister Abdul Latif Siddique to come out of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport without any barrier.

“It proves that the government had complete support for him,” Fakhrul said while talking to reporters after a call on with visiting Swedish Minister Isabella Lovin at the Swedish ambassador's office at Gulshan.
At a press briefing later in the day at the party’s Nayapaltan office, BNP joint secretary general Rizvi Ahmed alleged that by making drama over Latif, government has created a smoke screen in the mind of people.
Meanwhile, Jatiya Party expressed strong condemnation for the government inaction to arrest Latif and said exemplary punishment has to be ensured after bringing him to book.
In a statement, JP Chairman HM Ershad and its Secretary General Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu said the countrymen would never forgive Latif for his indecent remarks on Islam.
They also criticised the law enforcers saying how Latif left the airport without any barrier despite having several arrest warrants against him.
“Is Latif above the law,” they posed a question to the government.
