Leading garment exporter Evince Group plans to open two more outlets in Dhaka by early October after the launch of the first, aiming to take local sales to Tk 30 crore a year.
With an eye on Eid sales, the company opened its flagship outlet on July 17 on a space of 4,600 square feet in Banani to sell high-end clothes and accessories under Noir brand.
Bangladesh has a huge gap between supply and demand for designer clothes, said Shah Rayeed Chowdhury, director of Evince Group. “Noir will try to fill the gap.”
Noir has sold goods worth around Tk 55 lakh in 10 days since the inauguration of the first outlet, he said.
The new outlets will open their doors in Dhanmondi and Uttara before the next Eid-ul-Azha, Chowdhury said.
A dedicated team of experts will design and develop the products considering the local culture and values, he said.
The company sells a wide range of products, including men's kurtas, formal and casual shirts and women's ethnic wears, tops and dresses.
Moreover, it has a large collection of accessories such as shoes, bags, belts, scarves and bracelets for both men and women. People aged between 18-40 years are the target group, Chowdhury said. The company will make clothing products locally and import women's bags and other accessories from abroad, he said.
Punjabis are sold at Tk 1,600-2,000 apiece, shirts at Tk 1,400-1,800, jeans at Tk 1,795, kurtas at Tk 2,000-4,000 and tops at Tk 1,600-3,000.
The group started its operation with its garment unit—Evince Garments—in 1983. It commissioned four additional manufacturing plants by foreseeing the diversity and volume of client's future requirements.
Now, the garments division features 39 lines which are capable of producing 30,000 to 35,000 pieces of woven shirts a day for some of the leading retailers in the US and the EU, according to the company's website.
Evince Group exports more than $100 million a year, Chowdhury said.
