Record 102 die of Covid in a day

One hundred and two people died from Covid-19 in 24 hours ending at 8:00am yesterday, said a press release of the Directorate General of Health Services.

This is the highest number of deaths due to Covid-19 recorded in a day so far in Bangladesh. The previous day, 101 people died from coronavirus infection for the second consecutive day. The number of deaths was the same on Friday.

The total number of deaths reached 10,385 and the death rate stands at 1.44 percent.

At least 3,698 new infections were recorded in the meantime, taking the total number of people infected to 7,18,950, added the release.

The current positivity rate is 19.06 percent, while the total positivity rate stands at 13.91 percent.

A total of 19,404 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours.

At least 6,121 Covid-19 patients recovered during the period.

The total number of recoveries is now 6,14,936 and the recovery rate 85.53 percent.

Among yesterday's 102 deceased, 59 were men and 43 women. Of them, two were within 31-40 years old, 14 between 41 and 50, 23 within 51-60, and 63 were above 60 years old, added the release.
