Minimum Fitra fixed at Tk 60

Fitra has been fixed at minimum Tk 60 per head this year.

The Islamic Foundation has fixed the amount at a meeting yesterday.

Maulana AMM Sirajul Islam, member secretary of the National Fitra Fixation Committee, presided over the meeting.

Per person Fitra has been fixed at minimum Tk 60 and maximum Tk 1,650 this year taking into account the market prices of wheat, dates and other items, said a release of the foundation.

Fitra is 'wajib' for all members of a family and should be paid to the poor before the Eid Jamaat. It can be given in cash or kind.

Prof Siraj Uddin Ahmad, principal of Govt Madrasa-e-Alia, Dhaka, and Saiyed Abdullah Al Maruf, assistant professor of Arabic Department of Dhaka University, attended the meeting.
