Girl knifed to death at school gate in Gazipur

A schoolgirl was stabbed to death allegedly by a stalker in front of her school at Boardghar in Kaliakoir upazila of Gazipur yesterday.

The victim is Kabita Das, 15, a class-X student of Bijoy Sarani High School. She was the daughter of Sagar Moni Das, a resident of Rabraban village in Dhamrai Upazila.

Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Kaliakoir Police Station, said Bikram Chandra Sarker, a BBA student of Gono Bishwabidyalay, used to stalk Kabita on her way to school.

Yesterday, when the girl came out of the school during lunch break at 1:00pm, Bikram swooped on her with a knife and stabbed her indiscriminately, leaving her critically injured, he said, quoting witnesses.

Locals and her classmates rescued Kabita and took her to Kaliakoir Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared her dead.

They also caught Bikram and handed him over to the police.

Kabita's father filed a murder case against Bikram with Kaliakoir Police Station last night.
