Bangladeshi staff missing for hours, returns safely

A staff member of Bangladesh High Commission in Islamabad returned safely early today, around seven hours after he went missing in the Pakistan capital.

Jahangir Hossain, personal officer at the press wing of the high commission, had been missing since around 6:00pm (Pakistan time).

Bangladesh High Commissioner to Pakistan Suhrab Hossain confirmed to The Daily Star around 2:15am that Jahangir has returned unharmed around 12:45am (Pakistan time).

The envoy said he was yet to know the details.

Earlier, he said the high commission had informed all departments concerned of the Pakistan government about the staff member going missing.

Jahangir usually leaves the office around 6:00-6:30pm and picks his daughter from a coaching centre before going home, added Suhrab. “Last evening, he [Jahangir] left office around the same time, but did not pick his daughter from the coaching centre.”

His wife informed the high commission about the incident after her daughter called her from the coaching centre.
