Fire guts acid warehouse in Tantibazar

An acid warehouse was burnt in a fire in the densely populated Tantibazar area in the old part of the capital this evening.
However, no one was injured.
The fire began around 7:34pm and was doused by four firefighting units of Fire Service and Civil Defence around 8:50pm, control room sources said.
"An acid depot, a beauty parlour and a tailoring shop was burned. The shops were closed for Eid-ul-Azha vacation. No one was injured," said Abdul Halim, deputy assistant director of fire service.
The warehouse was the supplier of acid for gold shops throughout the Tantibazar area, the official said. "About half the shop was burned down."
The fire was speculated to have sparked from a short-circuit in any one of the shops, according to the official.
