FICCI welcomes stimulus package from govt to overcome coronavirus impact

Foreign Investors' Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) has welcomed the stimulus package announced by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to overcome the impact of Covid-19 crisis.

"On behalf of the Foreign Investors' Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), we express our gratitude to the Government of Bangladesh for this timely initiative. We believe this package will be instrumental in supporting the businesses across the spectrum under current circumstances and help the economy to rebound as situation improves in the future," Rupali Haque Chowdhury, president of the FICCI said in a press note.

The members of FICCI are spending an approximate amount of BDT 100 crore to support employees, partners, communities and development agencies at various levels to overcome the crisis, reads the press note.

"In this pandemic, FICCI members reiterate our pledge to support thousands of employees working for FICCI companies as well in the larger eco-system, by preserving the employment of permanent as well as third-party workers in order to support livelihood and wellbeing of the people," the president said.

"Multinational companies have been integral part of Bangladesh's growth journey in the last 50 years and consider themselves to be the development partners contributing significantly to economic, social and capability-led development of Bangladesh," she added.
