Feast for fashion connoisseurs

Thursday evening was long awaited by fashion enthusiasts of Chittagong city, as they had an opportunity to enjoy an eye-catching fashion show as well as music and dance performances by artistes of the port city.
The event was the final round and prize-giving ceremony of “Diamond World-Prothom Alo Eid Fashion Competition '14”, organised by daily Prothom Alo. The show was held at the Institution of Engineers, Chittagong.
Walking the ramp were models turned out in attire like saris, salwar kameez, panjabi, fotua and t-shirts designed by the competitors.
Another attraction of the programme was the dance performance and music. Sumana and Pijus sang the popular song “Ei Poth Jodi Na Shesh Hoi” while Rajib and Sumana presented songs “Hoi Hoi Rongila Rongila Re” and a duet “Ekhane Dujone Nirojone”. The original movie clippings of the songs were screened, which further engaged the audience.
Bishwajit Chowdhury, joint editor of the Prothom Alo, said the daily has been organising the fashion competition for the last 15 years in the port city. Chowdhury said, this fashion contest is aimed at creating an opportunity for fashion designers of the city to showcase their creativity. He said the fashion designers of Chittagong have made the best use of the opportunity as many of them have become established fashion designers of the country.
Popular model and artiste Sharmin Lucky and managing director of Diamond World Limited Dilip Kumar Agarwal distributed prizes among the winners at the end of the final round of the competition.
Nihal's Wardrobe clinched the prize of the best of the bests. Meanwhile Farzana's Creation, Kashfa Boutiques, Shreya, RS Jonaki Fashion, Jotrita Boutique, Nakshi Boutique House, AB Creation, Anika, Nakshatra, Mauyurakshi and Fashion Max received prizes in different categories.
