Evidence found against 3 Bagerhat 'Razakars'

Investigators today said they have found evidence of eight wartime offences against three “collaborators” of Bagerhat.

The investigation agency of International Crimes Tribunal came up with the announcement on completion of its probe against Sirajul Haque alias Siraj Master, Khan Akram Hossain and Abdul Latif Talukder.

The offences include killing of 750 people, abduction, forced conversions and torching and looting houses in Rampal, Kachua, Morelganj and Sadar upazilas of the district during the country’s Liberation War in 1971, said Investigator Sanaul Haque at their Dhanmondi office in Dhaka.

The investigators started the probe against the three war crimes accused on May 21 last year.

Siraj Master, 72, was activist of the Muslim League while Akram, 61, and Latif, 68, were supporters of the party in 1971. They joined the local collaborators who helped then Pakistan military forces during the war, Haque said.

The investigators submitted the report to the prosecution office around 3:00pm, Prosecutor Syed Sayedul Haque Sumon told The Daily Star.
