Young Lions competition for creative professionals held for 5th time

For the fifth time, the most exciting competition for creative professionals 'Young Lions Competition Bangladesh' has been held in the capital.

The event also marked the 2nd iteration of 'Young Marketers Competition Bangladesh', according to a press release.

Both the competitions, held simultaneously, have been organized by Bangladesh Brand Forum, in collaboration with The Daily Star, and in association with Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.

The daylong competition was held at The Daily Star Centre on 22nd June. 

The winning team for Young Lions Competition 2019 was – Team Analyzen BD. Members of the team were – Khondoker Mashuk Ibn Mahfuz, Professor X, and Sabik Mahmud Khan, Grindelwald.  

On the other hand, the winner of Young Marketers Competition 2019 was – Team Robi Axiata Limited. The members were – Md. Faisal Imam, Manager, and Tasmeem Farizma Mihika, Graduate Trainee. 

As a prize of the competition, the winning teams will get to attend and represent Bangladesh at Spikes Asia 2019 in Singapore, which will be held in September. 

The theme for Young Lions Competition was "In Search of the Most Creative Young Professionals", whereas for Young Marketers Competition it was "In Search of the Ultimate Young Marketers".

For both the competitions, a separate case was given challenging the participants to develop campaigns/solutions within seven hours of time. For Young Marketers, the case was on promoting Jute Poly Bags and participants were to develop a marketing strategy that would help attain its proper place both locally and globally.

For Young Lions, the challenge was to develop a promotional campaign to create mass awareness about the effects of social media on mental well-being. The teams came up with some exciting campaigns and strategic solutions, highlighting proper utilisation of digital and print media, ground activation and strategic cooperation among relevant stakeholders. 

From 15 agencies, a total of 20 teams, each comprising of two members, participated in the Young Lions Competition. On the other hand, Young Marketers Competition had 17 teams from 13 organizations. 

Both competitions had a panel of expert jurors each. Young Lions Competition had Khandaker Shamim Rahman, General Manager (addl) & Head of Marketing, Social Marketing Company (SMC); AKM Zabed, Chief Marketing Officer, Anwar Group of Industries, and Urfi Ahmad, Brands and Communications Director, Banglalink in the jury panel.

On the other hand, the jury panel for Young Marketers Competition had Md. Tajdin Hassan, Head of Marketing, The Daily Star; Nusrat Jahan, Head of Marketing, Hemas Consumer Brands (Pvt) Ltd; Aftab Mahmud Khurshid, General Manager, Business Development & Marketing, Apollo Hospitals Dhaka, and Shahriar Amin, Head of Marketing, Beximco Communications Limited.

The teams explained their campaigns in 5-minutes presentations before the jurors. 

After thorough and unbiased evaluation, the jurors announced the winning teams of both competitions.
