The atmosphere of Kalabagan Puja mandap was festive on Wednesday night with the blasts of dhaak-dhol and music. A cultural programme organised by Kalabagan Puja Comitteee doubled the celebration of the night.

Prominent dancers Shamim Ara Nipa and Shibli Mohammad performed along with 40 other dancers of their dance troupe Nrityanchal. Together, they staged the dance drama Rai Krishna Padabali, directed by another renowned dancer from India, Sukalyan Bhattacharya. Shamim Ara Nipa played the role of Rai whereas Shibli Mohammad played the role of Krishna. Director Sukalyan Bhattacharya played the role of Bhanu Singha.

Beloved actor Indrani Halder came all the way from India to join the Puja celebrations in Bangladesh to host the dance drama and watch Nrityanchal perform.

“I always try to travel during Puja holidays, since this is the only time of the year I get a break from shooting,” says Indrani Halder. “Sukalyan Bhattacharya is a dear friend of mine. When he informed me about this performance by Shibli and Nipa, I knew I had to watch it.”
