Eve-teasers kill youth in Dhaka

A youth died early today hours after he was severely beaten and stabbed by miscreants for protesting teasing his sister in Bhashantek area of Dhaka.

Md Nasir Hossain, 25, is the son of Abdul Matin Sarder, Mosharraf Sarder, elder brother of the deceased, told The Daily Star.

At least eight to nine youths including Mamun, Alam, Sohel, Sujon and Bablu have been teasing Nasir’s maternal cousin a student of Class VII for several months in the area, Mosharraf said.

After the youths teased her again yesterday afternoon, Nasir scolded them warned of legal action if they further harassed his cousin, he added.

“The youths are involved in drug trade,” Mosharraf alleged.

A man around 9:00pm called on Nasir and took him to the youths, he claimed.

The youths first beat and later stabbed Nasir, leaving him injured critically.

Nasir was rushed to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital by the locals around 10:30pm where he died two hours later.

Contacted, Golam Nabi, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Bhashantek Police Station, said they are looking into the matter.
