Ershad relieves Ranga, Tajul as presidium members

Jatiya Party (JP) chairman HM Ershad today relieved two presidium members -- Moshiur Rahman Ranga and Tajul Islam Chowdhury -- from their positions in the party.
The step comes in action for their "indecent" comments about the party chief, Bangla Daily Prothom Alo quotes some JP sources as saying.
Ranga is state minister for local government and rural development ministry while Chowdhury opposition chief whip.
Ershad took the step using his power given by Section 39 of the party constitution, according to a statement signed by Ershad’s Press and Political Secretary Shunil Shuva Roy.
The press statement, however, did not mention any reason behind the termination.
Quoting the party insiders, Prothom Alo reports that Ershad took the disciplinary decision as the JP leaders allegedly had made some indecent and negative comments about the party chairperson to the press on Tuesday.
Ranga declared not to comply with any decision solely taken by the party chairperson. While, Tajul advised Ershad to resign from the post of special envoy of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Both the JP lawmakers took part in the January 5 general elections with the leadership of Ershad, the Bangla daily said.
Quoting a JP leader who is very close to Ershad, the report said the JP chairperson took the decision to relieve Ranga and Tajul as he felt embarrassed by some comments made by the party’s senior leaders. Ershad, however, tried to avoid the comments in the last few days.
