Ershad invites Hasina, Khaleda to political convention
Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad has sent letters to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia inviting them to a convention to find a way out of the current political impasse.
Referring to deadly violence during the ongoing nonstop blockade, he said, “Let’s us all say no to this polluted politics. So, we all political leaders need to meet in a convention to solve the crisis.”
“In terms of age, I am the senior most political leader of the country…if you agree with my proposal I can arrange a convention in a convenient time and place,” Ershad, also a former military dictator, said in the letters.
“I will be waiting for your response in this regard,” Ershad said at the end of the letter.
Abul Hasan Ahmed Jewel, a joint office secretary of JP, delivered the letters this evening.
Talking to The Daily Star, Jewel said he handed over a letter to BNP chief’s Special Assistant Shimul Biswas at her Gulshan office around 6:30pm and delivered the other letter to Hasina’s Dhanmondi office around 7:15pm.
Jewel said the letter will be delivered to all political parties gradually.
