Dolphin washes ashore on Kuakata beach

A dolphin washed ashore on Kuakata beach in Patuakhali today.

Locals spotted the seven feet long carcass late in the afternoon, reports UNB.

Witnesses told UNB that there were bruises on its face.

Kalapara upazila's Senior Fisheries Officer Apu Saha said that it was a  Ganges river dolphin (Platanista gangetica).

The mammal may have died after getting trapped in a fishing net..

He also didn't rule out the possibility of natural death due to age.

Earlier on September 2, a 12-foot dolphin washed ashore in Kuakata beach of Patuakhali.
