A team of Wildlife Crime Control Unit (WCCU) rescued 37 turtles from Tinmatha area of Bogura town this morning.

The team also detained two people -- Rabindra Chandra Das (58) and Rafiqul Islam (53) of Bogura Sadar upazila – during the drive, Ashim Kumar Mollick, inspector of the Wildlife Crime Control Unit, told The Daily Star.

The duo are involved in illegal trading of turtles for years, our Bogura correspondent reports quoting the WCCU official.

Ashim Kumar said, "We rescued the turtles from the duo around 9:00am today -- with the help of Team for Energy and Environmental Research (TEER), a local organisation that works for environment."
