Paturia-Daulatdia ferry services halted due to dense fog

Ferry services on the Paturia-Daulatdia route have been suspended since this morning due to poor visibility owing to the dense fog.

Shah Md Khaled Newaz, deputy general manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation's (BIWTC) Aricha regional office, told our Manikganj correspondent that the service was suspended from 5:45am to avoid accidents.

Meanwhile, two ferries, Khanjahan Ali and Shah Makhdum, got stuck in the middle of the Jamuna River with passengers and vehicles on board, he said.

Several vehicles are stuck on Paturia and Daulatdia ferry ghats due to the suspension of the ferry services, he added.

However, ferry services on the Aricha-Kazirhat waterway are normal, he added.
