Dhaka may witness rain throughout the day; recorded 7mm rain in 3 hours

It may rain intermittently throughout the day in Dhaka today (September 13, 2022), according to Bangladesh Meteorological Department. 

At 11:00 am today, meteorologist Monwar Hossain told The Daily Star, "It will rain all over the country today.  The capital received 7 mm of rain from 6am to 9am. "

Since morning, rain submerged different areas of the city causing sufferings to the people.

City's most areas, including Dhanmondi, Mirpur and Green Road have been inundated due to the downpour.

Rickshaw pullers and CNG-run auto-rickshaw drivers were charging excessive fare taking the advantage of the inclement weather.

All the maritime ports have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal no three.

The Land Depression over South Madhya Pradesh and adjoining area of India moved further west-northwestwards, weakened into a Well-marked low and lay centred over central part of Madhya Pradesh and adjoining area, according to a Met office's latest bulletin.

It is likely to move west-northwestwards and weaken gradually, it said.

Under its influence deep convection is taking places over North Bay and adjoining area. The axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajasthan, the centre of the Well-marked low, Odisha, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal to Assam across Central part of Bangladesh. One of its associated troughs extends up to North Bay. Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and strong over North Bay.

Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind and lightning flashes is likely to occur at most places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over the country.

Under the influence of active monsoon heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram & Sylhet during next 24 hours commencing 12pm today.
