A nationwide survey on sound pollution kicked off from Manikganj district today.

The Centre for Atmospheric Pollution Studies (CAPS) of Stamford University Bangladesh will carry out the survey in all 64 districts in phases to understand the level of sound pollution across the country.

CAPS Chairman Prof Ahmad Kamruzzaman Majumder, also the head of environmental science department and dean of science faculty at Stamford University Bangladesh, is leading the research team of the survey.

On the occasion, the CAPS in collaboration with EQMS Consulting Limited organised a views-exchange meeting at Manikganj Zia Parishad auditorium.

Nur Alam, deputy director of Department of Environment (DoE) in Manikganj, presided over the meeting, while Ramzan Ali, mayor of Manikganj Municipality, was present as the chief guest.

Mayor Ramzan Ali said that those responsible for noise pollution should be identified first. Mass awareness needs to be raised to this end by alerting the drivers and putting up posters in places of interest.
