Electricity prices raised at retail and wholesale levels

The government has increased the retail and wholesale prices of electricity.

The hiked prices will come into effect from February 1, according to a notice issued by the power, energy and mineral resources ministry today.

The retail price of electricity will be raised by five percent for the second time in less than a month.

The government raised the price bypassing the public hearing of the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission.

The government last raised prices of electricity by five percent on January 12.
