No damage in Ctg port, ops may start tomorrow

The Chattogram port authorities today said they may resume port operations from tomorrow as no damage was reported in the port area following the landfall of cyclone Mocha.

"We hope that the port operations will be resumed from tomorrow morning," said Chattogram Port Secretary Omar Faruk.

However, the port's own Alert No. 4, the second highest as per its Cyclone Disaster Preparedness and Post-Cyclone Rehabilitation Plan, will not be lowered until warning signal of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department is withdrawn, he added.

"We hope that the ships will start arriving during the tide on Monday afternoon. From then import-export trade will begin," Omar Faruk added.

"So far I have not received any news of any accident or shipwreck in Chattogram port water territory," he added.

Due of port's own Alert No. 4, goods unloading from jetty, internal management activities, and product delivery remained suspended today in the port area.

Transfer of goods from large ships to small ships at outer anchorage was also remained suspended.
