Bangladesh has sent humanitarian aid and medicines for the victims of Monday's earthquake in Syria.

A cargo plane of Bangladesh Air Force, loaded with tents, blankets, sweaters, dry foods and medicines, left for Syria tonight around 10:30pm, said Selim Hossain, deputy chief information officer of disaster management and relief ministry.

Group captain Jamil Uddin Ahmed of Bangladesh Air Force is leading the team, said an Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release.

Earlier, a joint support team led by Bangladesh Armed Forces reached Turkey to join the search and rescue operations in the aftermath of the earthquake that hit both countries.
