Overnight rain triggers landslides in Mumbai, killing 25

Incessant overnight rains have triggered landslides which caused the deaths of 25 people in Mumbai.

Seventeen people died as a compound wall came crashing down on some houses after a landslide at Bharatnagar Vashi Naka locality in Mahul area, reports our New Delhi correspondent quoting a fire brigade official.

Seven hutment dwellers were killed as five shanties collapsed following a landslide in Mumbai's Vikhroli suburb at 2.30 am local time, a civic body official said.

The city is also witnessing severe waterlogging and disruption of local train services and vehicular traffic.
