Lightning strike kills 17 in Chapainawabganj

At least seventeen people died in lightning strike on the bank of Padma river, in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj, this noon.

The seventeen deceased were part of a groom's party who had just crossed the river on a boat in Char Paka area of Paka union, reports our local correspondent quoting Jalal Uddin, chairman of the union.

The incident took place around 12pm, the chairman said adding that the groom is also among those who died.
