Who is replacing Henry Cavill in ‘Superman: Legacy’?

DC studio's co-CEO, James Gunn, recently announced the replacements for Henry Cavill and Amy Adams in his upcoming film, "Superman: Legacy". Initially, Cavill was supposed to return as Superman in the film. However, after the director rebooted the project, he decided to select a younger actor for the role.

According to media outlets, Cavill's role will now be taken over by David Corenswet. Meanwhile, Amy Adams will be replaced by Rachel Brosnahan.

Speaking to the media about the new casting, James Gunn shared, "They are not only incredible actors, but also wonderful people."

Moreover, referencing the decision to replace Henry Cavill, the "Guardians of the Galaxy" director mentioned, "It has to be somebody who has all the humanity that Superman has, but he's also an alien. It's gotta be somebody who has the kindness and compassion that Superman has. And it has to be somebody that you'd want to give you a hug. You know, all the Supermen have been good, so we just have to add to that story."

While the director has confirmed these two actors for the upcoming film, the search for other characters such as Lex Luthor, members of the superhero team, The Authority and numerous others is still ongoing.

"Superman: Legacy" is scheduled to start shooting in January 2024 and is expected to hit theatres around July 2025.

David Corenswet was previously featured in a multitude of productions, including "Pearl", "The Politician" and "Hollywood", among others.

Meanwhile, Emmy-award winning actor Rachel Brosnahan was previously seen in multiple popular films and series, including "The Courier", "House of Cards", and "The Marvellous Mrs. Maisel".
