'The Kerala Story' producer states 'Film isn't against Muslims or Islam'

"The Kerala Story" producer, Vipul Shah, clarified that the film is not anti-Muslim or Islam. He stated it was an anti-terrorist movie.

Directed by Sudipto Sen, the film premiered in theaters on May 5, and there were requests to ban the screening of the film in a few states, including West Bengal and Tamil Nadu.

In an interview with Rediff, Vipul clarified that The Kerala Story is "not anti-Muslims or Islam; it is anti-terrorists. This film is not against any religion or caste. Some individuals were sending furious, rude, and hateful words about the film, among them three of them publicly apologised and applauded the film," revealed the producer. 

"I'm confident that as the temperature drops, people will see that this video is not against anyone, but rather against terrorists. And we are appealing to everyone who opposes terrorism to join us in our struggle," added Vipul. 

Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Siddhi Idnani, and Sonia Balani play the key parts in the Hindi film. Madhya Pradesh has proclaimed it tax-free. It surpassed the Rs 50 crore milestone at the box office on its fifth day of release, collecting Rs 11 crores on Tuesday. "The Kerala Story" has so far made Rs 56.86 crores at the local box office, and it will be released globally on May 12.
