Sai Pallavi compares ‘Kashmir Genocide’ to cow vigilantism

South Indian actress, Sai Pallavi's recent comment has stirred up social media uproar after she compared the Kashmiri Pandits exodus to cow vigilantism during the promotion of her film "Virata Parvam." While some applauded her for the comment, many people also trolled her for being insensitive.

Sai plays the role of Vennela, a woman who falls in love with a Naxal leader (Rana Daggubati). The film is said to be based on real-life events.

During a media interview, Sai was asked whether she was inspired by the left-wing movement, and the actress responded that she grew up in a neutral family and was taught to give importance to being brought up as a good human being.

"The Kashmir Files showed how Kashmiri Pandits were killed at the time. If you are taking the issue as a religious conflict, there was an instance recently where a Muslim was attacked when driving a vehicle carrying cows, and people chanted "Jai Shri Ram". So, where is the difference from what happened then and what is happening now," mentioned Sai in an interview with the YouTube channel Greatandhra. 

One social media user wrote, "There is a huge difference in a random Muslim being beaten, and an entire community being uprooted. Please don't trivialise our pain. Come and see any of our broken homes and hearts. We are witnesses to genocide but await justice. Not everything is propaganda."

Another user wrote, "The oppressed should be protected. Thank you so much Sai for speaking the truth."
