Remembering Tagore: TV channels celebrate Rabindra Jayanti

Today, Boishakh 25, marks the 162nd birthday of the legendary poet, Rabindranath Tagore, in the Bengalee calendar. On this occasion, various television channels have prepared to celebrate a festive Rabindra Jayanti, with many of Rabindranath Tagore's dramas, songs and recitation programmes airing today. Moreover, Chhayanaut and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy will also be hosting various events today.

BTV
On the occasion of Rabindra Jayanti, a special programme titled "Jonmo Kotha", featuring Rabindranath's poems will greet the audience today at 4 pm. A special drama series, "Shesher Kobita" will also be aired on BTV around 6:30 pm. A telefiction based on Rabindranath Tagore's "Oporichita" will be aired at 9 pm.

Moreover, a special musical programme featuring Rabindra Sangeet will be aired at 10:20 pm. Bulbul Islam, Azizur Rahman, Debolina Sur, Tanjina Toma and Ananya Laboni will be performing in the programme.

Channel i

Rabindranath Tagore's lyrical drama "Chitrangada" will be airing at 11:05 am on Channel i. A special programme featuring Rabindranath's songs and poems, as well as special episodes of Channel i's "Tarakathon" will be aired at 12:05 pm. At 1:30 pm, Arun Chowdhury's special programme—which he has directed and will also be hosting—"Cholochitre Rabindranath" will be aired. At 3:05 pm, the film "Tumi Robe Nirobe" based on one of Rabindranath Tagore's creations will also be screened on Channel i.

At 7:50 pm, a special telefiction based on Rabindranath Tagore's "Detective" will be aired. Another special programme, "Tumi Robe Nirobe", presented by Muqeed Majumdar Babu will kick-off at 10 pm. Rezwana Chowdhury Bannya's Rabindra Sangeet show "Modhur Khela" will start at 11:30 pm.

Banglavision

At 5:25 pm today, the special programme "Rangiye Diye Jao" will greet the audience on Banglavision. The programme features Rabindra Sangeet performances by the famed musician Anima Roy. It will be hosted by Mahidul Islam.

Chhayanaut

Chhayanaut will be celebrating "Rabindra Utsav" between May 8 and 9, with a multitude of recital, dance and musical performances. The event will take place at Chhayanaut's Sangskritik Bhaban from 7 pm till 9:30 pm, on both days.

Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy

A special discussion and cultural programme will greet the audience in the main auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy at 7 pm.
