Number of theatres screening ‘Mujib’ increased after its release

The biopic of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman titled, "Mujib: The Making of a Nation", jointly produced by the governments of Bangladesh and India, was released in theatres across the country on October 13. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina herself has invited everyone to watch the movie starring Arifin Shuvoo.

The production company Jaaz Multimedia, which is in charge of distributing "Mujib: The Making of a Nation", announced on their official Facebook page that the number of theatres screening the film has increased to 161 from 153 halls, within two days of its release.

On the other hand, the audience has been liking the film "Mujib" since its release. Star Cineplex began by releasing 20 shows in seven of its branches, then the authorities increased the number of shows by one, for each branch.

Mesbah Uddin, senior manager of Star Cineplex told The Daily Star, "The biopic 'Mujib' is doing very well here. The number of shows for it was increased last Saturday, the day after the release. There is a lot of interest in the film amongst the audience. Many shows are receiving a house full of audiences every day. It is also doing well in Rajshahi and Chattogram."

In "Mujib: The Making of a Nation", directed by the famous Indian director Shyam Benegal, Arifin Shuvoo plays the role of Bangabandhu, Tisha plays the role of Bangabandhu's wife Sheikh Fazilatunnesa, Dighi plays the role of a younger Sheikh Fazilatunnesa, Nusraat Faria plays the role of PM Sheikh Hasina and Chanchal Chowdhury essays the role of Bangabandhu's father Sheikh Lutfur Rahman amongst other notable actors in it.

In late January 2021, the first phase of the film began shooting at Dadasaheb Phalke Studio in Mumbai. Indian director Dayal Nihalani worked as an associate director in the movie while the screenplay was written by Shama Zaidi and Atul Tiwari. The film features Nitish Roy as the art director in charge and Shyam Benegal's daughter Pia Benegal as the costume director.
