In just five weeks since its release, the R-rated historical drama has amassed an impressive $718 million in worldwide ticket sales, firmly establishing itself as the fourth-highest-grossing movie of the year.

The film's financial success includes a substantial $285 million from North America and an impressive $437 million from international markets. The movie stands behind Nolan's monumental successes, including "The Dark Knight" ($1.006 billion), "The Dark Knight Rises" ($1.08 billion), and "Inception" ($837 million). Moreover, "Oppenheimer" holds the distinction of being Nolan's highest-grossing release across 50 overseas markets, including prominent territories like Germany, India, Brazil, and Saudi Arabia.

The film's popularity in North America is also evident, as "Oppenheimer" has maintained a consistent presence in the top three at the box office for over a month. Notably, it has secured the title of the highest-grossing R-rated film of the year, outpacing "John Wick: Chapter 4" ($187 million). In the larger scope of 2023 releases, "Oppenheimer" stands as the sixth-highest grossing film, following Disney's "The Little Mermaid" ($297 million).

"Oppenheimer" is an adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize-winning book "American Prometheus." The film showcases Cillian Murphy in the role of the legendary theoretical physicist responsible for spearheading the development of the atomic bomb. The ensemble cast features esteemed actors such as Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, Florence Pugh, and Alden Ehrenreich, all contributing to the film's narrative brilliance and its resounding success at the global box office.
