National Film Awards to be held on March 23

The ceremony of National Film Awards 2020, honouring the achievements of the film fraternity in Bangladesh, is slated to be held on March 23. The event will be held at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC).

Saiful Islam, Deputy Secretary (Film -1), Ministry of Information, confirmed the news. The Prime Minister will be virtually present but her physical presence at the event is yet to be confirmed.

The National Film Awards 2020 were announced in 27 categories on February 15 on the official website of the Ministry of Information.

Gazi Rakayet and Faridur Reza Sagar's "Gor" (The Grave), and Anjan Chowdhury's "Bishwoshundori", jointly won the award for 'Best Film'.

Siam Ahmed bagged the award for 'Best Actor in a Lead Role (Male)' for the Chayanika Chowdhury directorial film "Bishwoshundori".

Deepanwita Martin won the award for 'Best Actor in a Lead Role (Female)' for "Gor" while Gazi Rakayet won 'Best Director' for the same production.

The Lifetime Achievement Awards will be given to acting legends Anwara Begum and Raisul Islam Asad for their tremendous contribution to the Bangladeshi film industry.
