‘MR-9’ to release in 18 halls locally, 151 across Canada and USA

After a long wait, Masud Rana adaptation "MR-9: Do or Die" will finally be released this Friday (August 25). Promotional activities surrounding the films have left no stone unturned, as the multinational cast members have been busy interacting with Bangladeshi media.

Thus, on a press conference on Tuesday, the staggering budget of the film was revealed to be at Tk 83 crores. The film is set to be released in 18 theatres, across the country.

According to Deadline, the film has struck a North American Distribution deal with Swapna Scarecrow. Saikot Salahuddin, head of Swapna Scarecrow Bangladesh also informed that "MR-9" will be released across 151 halls across Canada and USA, being the only Bangladeshi film to do so.

Earlier, Jaaz Multimedia also claimed that "MR-9" is the highest-budgeted Bangladeshi movie to be made, which they also assume will bring in Tk 700 crores worldwide.

"MR-9: Do or Die" is a visual adaptation of "Dhongsho Pahar", the first edition of the popular spy series Masud Rana, authored by eminent writer Qazi Anwar Husain.

It is jointly produced by Jaaz Multimedia and Silver Nine.

The film boasts a plethora of Bangladeshi and foreign artistes including Frank Grillo, Sakshi Pradhan, Michael Jai White, Niko Foster and more. Bangladeshi artistes include, ABM Sumon, Shahidul Alam Sachchu, Anisur Rahman Milon, Jessia Islam and Alisha.

The film's script has been co-written by Abdul Aziz and Nazim Ud Daula, along with "MR-9" director, Asif Akbar. Moreover, the musical score has been composed by Grammy winning Indian musician, Ricky Kej.
