Moushumi spending her birthday in Atlanta

Eminent actress Moushumi is currently visiting her sister, actress Irin Zaman in the USA with her daughter for holidays. Today marks the birthday of the "Keyamot Theke Keyamot" famed artiste.

The star, who has performed in over a 100 films till date including the National Award winning releases "Meghla Akash" (2001), "Devdas" (2013) and "Taarkata" (2014), is spending her birthday in Atlanta this year.

In a conversation over the phone, Moushumi shares her birthday plans with The Daily Star.

"I will be spending the day with my mother and sister in Atlanta this year," she shares. "Delightful birthday wishes, affectionate remarks and best wishes from my fans and peers always make my day special."

The diva also said that she misses her motherland on this special day. "I also miss my husband Omar Sani, my son and my daughter-in-law who are back home," she adds.

The National Award winning actress is excited to cut her birthday cake with her mother after a long time. "I seldom get to see her as we live miles apart and was not able to visit her for a long time due to the pandemic," shares an excited Moushumi.

She has also been actively involved in social welfare, helping the needy with her organisation Moushumi Welfare Foundation. She also has served as the goodwill ambassador for UNICEF.

"My father always wanted to help people in need as he believed collaboration and cooperation always leads to development. I am happy that I am able to initiate a positive change while living his dream through my work," she mentions.

Moushumi is finished shooting Mirza Shakhawat Hossain's "Bhangon", Zahid Hossain's "Sonar Char" and Ashutosh Sujon's "Deshantor" recently. All three films are government funded projects.

"I am yet to dub for these projects and will get on with it as soon as I return," says Moushumi.

Having started her career on the silver screen, the artiste later went on to direct "Kokhono Megh Kokhono Brishti" while appearing on television productions and TVCs and as a TV host, while simultaneously giving theatrical hits in her career spanning over 2 decades.

"I have been honoured with many prestigious awards for my work," says the six-time BACHSAS awardee. "However, the love and adoration from my fans is no less than an award for me," she says.
