Mithila to play alter ego of Lady Macbeth in debut Indian film ‘Maya’

Popular actor and social activist Rafiath Rashid Mithila is set to make her debut in the Indian film industry. Directed by eminent Indian filmmaker Rajorshi Dey, the film "Maya" will feature Mithila in the role of the alter ego Lady Macbeth from William Shakespeare's popular tragedy "Macbeth", in the adaptation. Director Rajorshi Dey, who previously made the Bengali spiritual thriller, "Purba Paschim Dakshin," has put a feminist spin on Lady Macbeth's character.

The shooting started on July 12 at a Rajbari in Bali, Howrah, and will continue till the end of this month. The filming was postponed last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The first look of the movie will be released in the first week of August. The release date is yet to be announced.

The cast further includes Gourav Chakrabarty, Rahul, Tanusree Chakraborty, Kamaleswar Mukherjee, Gourab Chatterjee, Koneenica Banerjee, Ronita Das, Devlina Kumar, and Sudiptaa Chakraborty, among others.

Mithila is also set to make her debut in film with Anonno Mamun's "Omanush".
