Renowned Hollywood actor and producer Micheal Douglas will be felicitated with the Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award at the 54th International Film Festival of India in Goa.

The "Wall Street" actor will attend the festival in November with his wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones and son Dylan.

Indian Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Anurag Thakur announced the news on the microblogging site X.

"I'm delighted to announce that Michael Douglas, the distinguished Hollywood actor and producer, will be honoured with the prestigious Satyajit Ray Excellence in Film Lifetime Award at the 54th International Film Festival Goa," read his post.

"His deep love for our country is well known, and we look forward to welcoming him, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and their son to South Asia's most prestigious Film Festival. We are ready to showcase our rich cinematic culture and unique traditions at the event. Please accept my heartfelt welcome to Bharat and IFFI Goa," added Anurag.

Later, the National Film Development Corporation of India shared a video of Micheal Douglas in which he announced his upcoming trip to India.

"Hello, India, my name is Michael Douglas, and I am happy to announce that I will be coming to India at the International Indian Film Festival in Goa. I am really honoured to receive the prestigious Satyajit Ray Excellence in Film Lifetime Award next month. We'll also celebrate our close friend Shailendra Singh's 25th year in the film industry. As a result, I'm looking forward to meeting you in November," said the actor.

Veteran actor Douglas, 79, has appeared in a number of highly acclaimed and blockbuster films over the course of his five-decade career, including "Fatal Attraction", "The War of the Roses," "Basic Instinct", "Falling Down", "The American President", "Traffic" and "Behind the Candelabra".

Douglas, the son of Hollywood legend Kirk Douglas, won an Oscar for "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" in 1975 and then again for "Wall Street".

Douglas and Zeta-Jones will also take part in a special 'In Conversation' session led by Singh.

The Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award, established in 1999 by the IFFI, is given to those whose outstanding achievements have profoundly enriched and elevated the world of cinema. Bernardo Bertolucci, Carlos Saura, Martin Scorsese, Dilip Kumar, Krzysztof Zanussi, and Wong Kar-wai are some of the previous honorees.

The film festival will be held from November 20 to 28.
