Kangana Ranaut accuses Javed Akhtar of threatening her

Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut accused noted lyricist Javed Akhtar of threatening and insulting her, due to her refusal to apologise to Hrithik Roshan. The actress also alleged that the lyricist provoked her to commit suicide, resulting in her suffering from mental disturbance.

The actress recorded her statement in front of a magistrate court in Mumbai. Kangana claimed that Javed Akhtar had insulted her modesty and integrity by asking her to apologise to Hrithik. She also claimed that Javed tried to manipulate her by emphasising that the Roshan family's strong ties with the government could easily put her in jail.

In Kangana Ranaut's statement, which was reported by the Times of India, Ranaut alleged that the lyricist had said the following:

"We will not take time to put up impostors, then it will be open to the public to know that your affair was not with Hrithik but with impostors, then your face will be blackened, there will be so much infamy in the public that you will have no other way except suicide"

"We have evidence, they have all the ministries, apologise and save yourself. A girl from a good family will be drowned in shame. If you have little shame to save your honor, then don't insist."

These are the statements that Kangana Ranaut has alleged Javed Akhtar of making.

Javed Akhtar filed a defamation lawsuit against Kangana in November 2020 for dragging his name in an interview and calling him a "coterie" in Bollywood. On the other hand, Kangana and her sister accused the lyricist of threatening them during a spat with Hrithik Roshan.
