‘John Wick’ spinoff will star Ana De Armas

After "John Wick 4" took theatres by storm, the franchise will now be receiving its own spin-off movie called "Ballerina". The film will be based on one of the characters in the "John Wick" series, who is a ballerina turned assassin.

Academy Award nominated actress, Ana De Armas is set to star as the titular character, Rooney, who made a cameo appearance in "John Wick 3" played by real life ballerina Unity Phelan.

"The film, 'Ballerina', starts by introducing a character who kind of went through some of the same training as John in the ballet academy of Anjelica Huston (The Director) that we see in the third movie," explained Shay Hatten, one of the screenwriters. "But then she ends up going to a whole new corner of the world, in a new kind of isolated community, that really is unlike anything we've seen in these previous 'John Wick' movies."

Hatten has also confirmed that Keanu Reeves will be present in the film, and not just as a cameo. The film has been scheduled for release on June 7, 2024.
