Apu Biswas is currently under a hectic schedule with various commitments and new projects. In a conversation with The Daily Star on her birthday today, the renowned actress shared her upcoming Puja plans, and exciting new ventures.

Where do you plan to spend Puja this year?

I intend to stay in Dhaka for Puja this year, but I do not have any special plans. In reality, I do not feel too enthusiastic about the festivities surrounding puja, unlike the previous years. Puja to me seems dull these days.

What is the reason behind your sorrow?

My mother passed away last year, and since then, nothing has ever been the same. She was my idol, and I have come this far only for the love, affection and encouragement that she gave me.

I am spending the second Puja without my mother, and this is why the festive ambience of puja feels gloomy to me. Truth be told, I will never be able to enjoy Puja without my mother.

Film stars have returned to shooting after a long break. Have you done the same?
Similar to my colleagues, I have also returned to shooting. I went to Pabna to shoot the film "Prem Pritir Bondhon" and I stayed there for a couple of days to shoot the film. However, we had to return to Dhaka because of the crowded gatherings and now, we are looking for a new location. Besides this film, I am equally planning to work on some new projects.

You have been one of the most popular and busy actresses of Dhallywood. What are your thoughts on the current state of the film industry?

I am very hopeful that the busy and good days of our film industry will return soon. We have some brilliant directors and a lot of people are coming up with many intriguing stories. Therefore, I feel that we will be able to go back to our former glory days.
