‘I eat and drink cinema’: Alamgir completes 50 years in showbiz today

One of the greatest actors of Bangladeshi film history, Alamgir.

Today is a special day for cinema lovers in Dhaka. On this day, the golden jubilee of the acting life of one of the most prolific actors. 50 years ago, on this day in 1972, he stood in front of the camera for the first time for the film 'Amar Janmabhoomi', directed by Alamgir Kumkum.

On this occasion, the actor appeared in a special episode of 'Ranga Shokal', a regular feature of Masharanga Television. In this special episode, the evergreen actor Alamgir said that he always puts stills of the first movie 'Amar Jonmobhumi' on the wallpaper of his cell phone.

In the words of the hero himself, "I eat movies, I drink movies, I sleep in movies, movies are all mine." Two films, 'Amar Jonmobhoomi' and 'Dosshurani', based on the Liberation War, were released simultaneously on October 24, 1973, the day of Eid. He was just 22 years old when he was in front of the camera

Despite dedicating most of his life to acting, Alamgir says, "I have not yet become a good actor. It's not easy to be an artist."

Alamgir has won the National Award 9 times. In 1985, he received the National Film Award for his first film, 'Ma o Chele'. From 1989 to 1992, he set a new record by winning the National Film Award for Best Actor for four consecutive years, which no one has been able to break even today.

The special episode of the two-hour long "Ranga Shokal" aired at 7 am today. Rumman Rashid Khan and Labonno hosted the show, produced by Zubair Iqbal.
