Ferdousi Majumdar celebrates 80th birthday

Ferdousi Majumdar. Her reputation and experience as an artiste is equivalent to that of a prestigious acting school. For over six decades, she has been working in showbiz. During her time as an actor, she has received the Swadhinata Padak, the Bangla Academy Award and many more honours. She has also earned the love and admiration of the people in Bangladesh.

The talented artiste made a place for herself in the history books by playing the character of Hurmoti in the acclaimed television series, "Shongshoptok". Even today, people use her portrayal of Hurmoti as an example of the gold standard of acting. Apart from this, she also won the hearts of millions by working in many notable dramas.

Even six decades on, she is still active in the world of acting. In particular, she still performs on the stage. Her solo play, "Kokilara" still continues to be one of the most successful and popular plays in the world of theatre. Recently, she also starred in a new drama-romance stage play called "Love Letter".

Today marks the 80th birthday of the renowned actor, Ferdousi Majumdar.

When asked about her achievements-shortcomings on the occasion of her birthday, Ferdousi Majumdar said, "I have got everything in one life. I got fame, respect and the people's love. For me, there were no imperfections. I don't want anything more, because I have gotten a lot. I am very happy with my life."

She also added, "Some people have regrets. But I have no regrets either. I've had a long life. 80 years is no mean feat, right? I've lived for many years. I've been living with the arts for a long time as well. That's why I never talk about disappointment or shortcomings. Instead, I speak of beauty and truth."

Asked about her thoughts on celebrating her 80th birthday, the actor replied, "I'm looking at it very positively. Life is really beautiful."

Ferdousi Majumdar shares her birthday with her daughter, Tropa. When asked how it felt to be celebrating her 80th birthday, with her daughter who turned 50 today, Ferdousi Majumdar answered, "Sometimes I wonder how so many years have already passed? How did time pass so quickly and when did she become 50? I always say that, a child is a child. Your child will always be your child. Even though she is 50, Tropa remains the same to me as before."

Finally, when asked what are her plans for this special day, she said, "Nothing special. I'm at home. I'm receiving everyone's love. From near and far, people are greeting me. It feels good. I'll go visit Tropa at some point today. We will share the joy with all of our family. That's about it."
