Prominent actress and playwright Hridi Haq will venture out to direction for the first time with "1971 Shei Shob Din", a government-granted movie that tells the story of Bangladesh's Liberation War.

The film's shooting began a year ago. The first slot was shot in a village in Thakurgaon. The director and her team are currently shooting in Savar.

"We needed largescale arrangements for this movie, as it is about the Liberation War. We're telling the story about a family in 1971, and some events from that time. Our aim is to impart knowledge about this country's independence to the young generation," Hridi Haq told The Daily Star.

Besides directing, Hridi Haq also acted in "1971 Shei Shob Din" alongside
Mamunur Rashid, Jayanta Chattopadhyay, Munmun Ahmed, Shilpi Sharkar Apu, Ferdous, Tareen, Litu Anam, Saju Khadem, Sanjida Preeti, and others. Litu Anam makes a return to the silver screen after 15 years in this movie.

Ferdous, Litu Anam and Sajal play the roles of three brothers involved in The Liberation War.  "I agreed to do this movie as it is about the Liberation War. Hridi Haq did an amazing job with it," said Ferdous.

"We have tried our best to do justice to the story of the Liberation War with this film. I believe Hridi Haq will give us the gift of a lifetime," said Dr Enamul Haque, who wrote the script for "1971 Shei Shob Din".
