Gal Gadot's 'Wonder Woman 3' is not in development

Amidst recent speculation sparked by actress Gal Gadot's comments, sources familiar with the situation have clarified that a third installment of the "Wonder Woman" movie series is not in active development by Warner Bros. and DC Studios.

While Gadot indicated that discussions regarding "Wonder Woman 3" were underway with James Gunn and Peter Safran, sources close to the matter have informed American magazine Variety that there are no plans for the said film within the DC Studios' current agenda.

Gadot's initial hints about the potential for "Wonder Woman 3" emerged in an interview with ComicBook.com, where she expressed her fondness for the role. "I love portraying Wonder Woman... We're gonna develop a 'Wonder Woman 3' together," Gadot stated, referencing discussions with Gunn and Safran.

However, in a recently published profile by Flaunt magazine, Gadot seemingly confirmed her involvement in "Wonder Woman 3," saying that both Gunn and Safran assured her of its development. "You're in the best hands. We're going to develop Wonder Woman 3 with you... you've got nothing to worry about," Gadot recounted from her meeting with the DC heads.

Contrary to these statements, insiders disclosed to Variety that no commitments were made to Gadot regarding "Wonder Woman 3," and no conclusive talks had taken place about the continuation of her Wonder Woman character in the new DC Universe. Gunn and Safran had previously presented their new DC Universe lineup earlier in the year, focusing on upcoming titles like "Superman: Legacy."

Gal Gadot's portrayal of Wonder Woman has been a significant part of the DC Universe, with her character's appearances in various films. Her standalone "Wonder Woman" movies, directed by Patty Jenkins, were met with acclaim. While initial plans were in motion for "Wonder Woman 3" with Jenkins, the project underwent changes after Gunn and Safran took over DC Studios' leadership.

Gunn and Safran's most notable Wonder Woman-related project, "Paradise Lost," was unveiled earlier this year. This prequel series, set on Themyscira before the emergence of Wonder Woman, explores the island's political intrigue and society of all women.

While Gadot's recent remarks hinted at the potential of "Wonder Woman 3," industry dynamics and the evolving landscape of DC Studios have played a significant role in shaping the course of the beloved franchise. Gadot's statements were made before the SAG-AFTRA strike, during her promotional activities for the forthcoming Netflix spy thriller "Heart of Stone," scheduled to stream today.
